Junah Mpofu’s professional experience brings together more than three decades in banking, finance, real estate, project management, and education. Across these fields, she has focused on how financial knowledge can help individuals, businesses, and communities make stronger, more informed decisions.

01Thirty-three years in banking

From credit assessment to Vice President level in mortgage and credit lending.

She began her career in banking, where she spent more than thirty-three years gaining practical experience in financial services, lending, credit assessment, risk management, debt recovery, investments, and institutional decision-making. As a divisional Assistant General Manager serving at Vice President level in mortgage and credit lending, she developed a deep understanding of how money moves through economies, how credit is evaluated, and how financial choices affect individuals, businesses, and communities.

02Building homes in Harare

Housing, development and the committees that shaped them.

Her professional path also led her into real estate and project management. As Head of Project Management in real estate, she was involved in major housing and development initiatives and contributed to boards and committees connected to housing and finance in Africa. She also served on committees involving ZimHabitat in Zimbabwe and a governmental committee with the Minister of Local Government and Housing in Zimbabwe.

Her work in housing and development eventually led her to research and write about affordable housing in Zimbabwe, which was published in 2010.

03A well-travelled life

Junah’s journey from Kitwe, Zambia to Florida, USA.

Born in Zambia and married to her Zimbabwean husband, Junah moved with him to Harare, Zimbabwe, where they settled for many years before moving on to the USA.

Junah has travelled to many countries of the world, not only in Africa but as far as Australia, Asia, Great Britain and some other European countries, the Middle East, including Dubai and Israel, and parts of the Caribbean.

Her work also took her across Southern, East, and West Africa on African Union housing finance missions, giving her broader insight into housing, development, and economic realities across the continent.

04A new chapter abroad

Retail banking, education and a family business.

To broaden her professional experience further, she later worked in retail banking in the United States before moving into the education sector. In addition, she was a founder of a family-owned real estate agency, reflecting another dimension of her experience in property, entrepreneurship, and development.

05Always learning

A degree in Business Management and an MBA from Nottingham Trent University Business School, UK.

Her academic background includes a degree in Business Management and a Master of Business Administration from Nottingham Trent University Business School in the United Kingdom. Together with her professional experience, these studies strengthened her understanding of management, finance, leadership, and organizational development.

The next chapter of the journey.

That combination of practical finance, housing development, entrepreneurship, and education shaped the purpose behind her work today: making financial knowledge more understandable, practical, and useful for people who want to make better decisions with confidence.

Today, Junahyeng Academy represents the next chapter of that journey. It is being developed as a place for financial education, practical knowledge, and, in time, mentoring, designed to help people learn, think differently about money, and develop the confidence to make informed financial decisions.

Her purpose is not simply to talk about money. It is to share knowledge gained through years of professional experience and continued learning, so individuals can better understand money, make wiser financial decisions, and build a stronger financial future.

This new chapter is about turning years of experience into practical knowledge that can continue to serve others.

She shares this knowledge in her personal capacity, drawing from her professional experience, education, and lifelong learning, not as a substitute for professional financial, legal, or investment advice.
